Project Reflection

In creating the wiki for elementarybookbattle I learned how to apply the technology that we learned in class. In doing so I can see how it can be used in a school media center. The wiki Erin and I created allows the students to reinforce their reading comprehension in a fun way. They learn note taking skills about the authors. They also can use their creativity to make posters and trading cards, and comment on a voice thread. After all the tasks are completed the students can practice test taking skills and their comprehension skills with a short multiple choice quiz for each book they read.
A feature that would be nice on the wiki would be a spell check. I ran into difficulty in the embedding of the quizzes but after a few trys I figured it out and now I will not make the same mistake. Creating the quizzes on mystudiyo.com was very fun I enjoyed it and look forward to creating more in the future. Working with Erin was a pleasure she really knows her technology. I really enjoyed the class!

Using blogs in the media center

The videos demonstrated how blogging can enhance the learning experiences in the classroom. I especially enjoyed how the blogging experiences of the first graders with the children from New Zealand. They learned how their environment affects their learning experiences. The blogging also plays a practical role in helping students stay current with their coursework.
